STEM CURES: Scaling Engineering Excellence in Refugee Camps
Ten years ago, we began with a simple question: Can we inspire a generation of engineers within refugee camps?
Today, the answer is a resounding yes. Since 2016, STEM CURES has transformed from a series of temporary science camps into a sustainable educational model. By focusing on a "Train-the-Trainer" approach, we have reached over 2,000 students and empowered more than 100 local teachers with the tools to teach critical thinking and technical design.
The Full-Circle Impact Our greatest achievement isn't just the numbers; it’s the individuals. Students who attended our earliest clubs in the Zaatari Refugee Camp are now entering university to study engineering. We are no longer just "visiting"—we are building a permanent pipeline for talent.
- Our 2026 Goal: Sustainability & Scale To keep this momentum, we have moved to a permanent staffing model with three full-time local teachers. We are currently raising funds to:
- Clear our operational gap and secure teacher salaries for the coming year ($3/hr per teacher).Launch 10 permanent engineering clubs, providing each with structural and mechanical supplies.
- Fund capstone projects, such as student-built hydroponic systems ($750 per project).
Zero Overhead. 100% Impact. As a volunteer-led initiative founded by a licensed Professional Engineer, we maintain zero overhead. Every dollar you donate goes directly to the field to pay teachers and buy wood, pumps, and masking tape.
All donations are tax-deductible through our fiscal agent, Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church.
Help us spark the next great engineer.
